U.S. futures little changed overnight ahead of a potentially huge day for Wall Street, with the FOMC meeting at 2:00 pm et (no changes to rates expected) in the last meeting and presser for current Chairman Jerome Powell, and then a monster night of earnings for technology/AI with earnings results from AMZN, GOOGL, META and MSFT due, with all eyes on AI spending forecasts and future outlooks. Nasdaq futures get a little bounce overnight led by better earnings from STX and NXPI in semi space, though the S&P is little changed. U.S. risk sentiment eased on Tuesday as one negative OpenAI headline weighed on crowded AI trade just as President Trump looked no closer to and S&P 500 slipped from records. Overnight, some big winners in the strong semi sector (SOX) still on track for an over 30% gain in April alone, with analog space getting a boost on NXPI results and memory/HDD another boost from STX results. A combination of higher Treasury yields, surging oil still in the back of investors minds, but yet to impact broader markets. There are also other central bank meetings today with the Bank of Canada today, then the ECB and BOE meetings tomorrow. Crude oil prices extend gains as WTI crude +3.45% to $103.40 and Brent +2.93% to $114.50. In Asian markets, The Nikkei Index declined -618 points to 59,917, the Shanghai Index rose 28 points to 4,107, and the Hang Seng Index jumped 432 points to 26,111. In Europe, the German DAX is down -49 points to 23,969, while the FTSE 100is down -74 points to 10,258. Some earnings winners overnight include BE, FICO, NXPI, RSI, STX, Visa and VRNS while several names moving lower include BKNG, ENPH, GEHC, HOOD, HUM, OI and TER.
