U.S. futures are down slightly to kick off the week after posting strong returns the prior week, with the S&P 500 rising 0.9%, the Dow rose 0.7% and the Nasdaq rose 2.4%. In Asian markets, The Nikkei Index surged again, rising 1,1034 points to 72,353, the Shanghai Index jumped 72 points to 4,163, and the Hang Seng Index fell -156 points to 23,768. In Europe, the German DAX is down -56 points to 24,929, while the FTSE 100 rises 23 points to 10,386. In overnight news, UK Prime Minister Starmer resigned. There has been “encouraging progress” in peace talks with the US in Switzerland, Iran said on Monday, with an agreed roadmap to sealing a final deal within 60 days. Looking ahead, investors are gearing up for the May reading of the Personal Consumption Expenditures price index, the Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation gauge later this week on Thursday. Treasurys fell after President Trump again threatened military action against Iran over Hezbollah’s attacks on Israel, prompting investors to reassess inflation risks. Gold prices dip, oil slips and yields rise. Also, this week. Memory chip maker Micron (MU) earnings results.

  • Iranian Security officials said they had closed the Strait of Hormuz, citing what they said was the U.S. failure to stop the fighting in Lebanon as required under the agreement signed earlier this week by President Trump. The announcement by Iran’s Joint military command came as clashes between Israel and Hezbollah flared again in Lebanon on Saturday, just hours after the two sides agreed to a renewed ceasefire – WSJ reported.
  • U.S. President Donald Trump is considering options to grant the public a stake in leading artificial intelligence companies, aiming to ensure Americans benefit from the sector’s projected profits. Proposals include government equity stakes, targeted taxes, and public wealth funds.
  • Prime Minister Keir Starmer said he would resign, promising to ensure an orderly transfer of power to a new leader by September at the latest to try to avoid political instability as Britain prepares for its seventh leader in 10 years.

  • Activist investor Oasis Capital Management is considering mounting a proxy fight at Vail Resorts (MTN) that would seek to shake up the company’s board and explore selling off Vail’s mountains, according to people familiar with the matter. Among the likely buyers of Vail’s mountains would be Park City resident and billionaire Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince, the people said – Semafor reported.
  • Visteon (VC) was upgraded to Overweight from Neutral at JP Morgan and raised tgt to $165, a 45% upside to stock’s last close saying slate of new business wins should support visible growth over the next 3 to 5 years, highlighting Toyota launches, Honda two-wheelers, TRATON, China AI-HPC programs and India expansion.

Energy, Industrials and Materials

  • China added MP Materials (MP) and USA Rare Earth (USAR) as well as eight other U.S. entities it said are linked to the U.S. military to its export control list in retaliation for Washington placing several Chinese companies under restrictions this month.
  • Arcosa (ACA) shares rise following reports that Irish building materials company CRH (CRH) is nearing a deal to buy it for more than $8 billion. CRH and Arcosa didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment on Monday, the Financial Times reported.
  • Enphase (ENPH) entered a tax credit transfer agreement to sell up to $150M of advanced manufacturing production tax credits generated in 2026, per an SEC filing.
  • NeXT power (NXT) entered an agreement to buy Zimmermann PV-Steel Group for roughly 330 million euros, or about $378.6 million, expanding its solar-technology portfolio with new products and geographies.
  • Talen Energy (TLN) files for offering of up to 2.4M shares of common stock by selling stockholders.

Healthcare

  • Apogee Therapeutics (APGE) shares jump over 50% after the Financial Times reported that AbbVie (ABBV) is nearing a deal to buy the clinical-stage biotechnology company for about $10.9 billion in cash. The proposed deal would represent a roughly 60% premium to Apogee’s Thursday closing price of $90.38, the FT reported on Friday.
  • Regenxbio (RGNX) shares rise after saying the FDA has agreed to reverse its rejection of Regenxbio’s experimental gene therapy for a rare and fatal brain disease. Regenxbio plans to refile its application seeking approval of its Navsunli gene therapy in Q3, after it holds a formal meeting to resolve disputes with the FDA that is expected in July.

Technology, Media & Telecom

  • ASML (ASML) said on Friday it had never shipped an extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography machine to China, after a report that U.S. officials were concerned one of the company’s most advanced tools may have reached the country.
  • Disney’s (DIS) Toy Story fifth instalment in the Pixar film series tallied $160 million during its opening weekend, the highest in franchise history. Internationally, “Toy Story 5” snared $152 million, bringing its estimated global haul for the three-day period to $312 million.
  • Getty (GETY) said in a statement that images from its library will appear in the search and discovery features of ChatGPT, marking a key reversal for the firm. The companies did not share financial terms or disclose any details over whether Getty’s images would be used to train future OpenAI models – Bloomberg
  • Intel (INTC) announced the appointment of Seok-Hee Lee as executive vice President of Intel Foundry, reporting directly to CEO Lip-Bu Tan. Lee will lead all advanced packaging, system integration, back-end technology development, and back-end manufacturing, strengthening Intel’s ability to deliver differentiated, system-level innovation for customers.
  • Kalshi passes $2B in Annualized Revenue, is in early IPO Talks- The Information reported this weekend.
  • Meta (META) strikes Ai Computing deals with data centre firm Crusoe and is set to get roughly 1.6 gigawatts of Computing capacity from sites in Texas and Missouri.
