U.S. stock index futures rose on Tuesday as Treasury yields dipped from multi-year highs and oil prices retreated, offering investors some relief ahead of the quarterly earnings season as the Nasdaq 100 (QQQ) and Nvidia (NVDA) look to add to their record high prices. Treasuries sold off sharply on Monday, pushing the 10-year yield to 5.34% and the 30-year to 5.70%, their highest levels since 2002, but did not impact Wall Street as equity prices ended higher. Pressure comes from resilient growth, AI-driven investment and persistent inflation, with ISM Services Prices Paid hitting 74.0, the highest since July 2022. Markets price roughly a 25% chance of an October Fed hike, with a full 25bp increase priced by December. However, this morning, Treasury yields pulled back as oil fell below $100 and Scott Bessent pledged that stronger growth and spending restraint would begin improving the U.S. debt trajectory. The 10-year yield fell to 5.27% and the 30-year to 5.63%, easing from levels last seen in 2002. In Asian markets, The Nikkei Index jumped 737 points to 70,883, the Shanghai Index remains closed for its Golden Week holiday, and the Hang Seng Index gains 240 points to 24,280. In Europe, the German DAX is up 160 points to 25,414, while the FTSE 100 is up 58 points to 10,555.
