U.S. stock futures are mixed after a strong rebound on Thursday, as technology stocks looked to extend their recovery after a difficult week. S&P futures are up/Nasdaq futures down slightly after rising yesterday as a pullback in artificial intelligence-related stocks has weighed on the broader market this week due to concerns of higher borrowing costs amid surging Treasury yields. However, yields tumbled on Thursday despite hotter PPI/CPI inflation data the last two days, giving a reprieve to the selling pressure seen the early part of the week. In tech news, Anthropic’s anticipated $2T valuation ahead of a planned November IPO is facing investor resistance, with some reportedly considering a valuation closer to $1.5T, Reuters reported. Also, semis have been weak as the iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) fell for an eighth consecutive session on Thursday, marking its longest such streak since September 2015. The fund closed at $514.71, down 12.6% from its Oct. 2 close of $588.90. In Asian markets, The Nikkei Index advanced 898 points or 1.39% to 65,324 after tumbling more than -4% the day prior, the Shanghai Index gained 8 points to 3,716, and the Hang Seng Index climbed 124 points to 24,186. The Korean Kospi rose 2% or 17 points to 878. In Europe, the German DAX is up 285 points to 25,668, while the FTSE 100 is up 14 points to 10,854. The U.S. dollar fell after Fed Chair Kevin Warsh-by saying very little-helped bolster market expectations that the Fed will stand pat at its October meeting.
